After the month of August, and with the IBC just around the corner, we are back to keep you informed. And lately there have been a few news that we will be telling you throughout this week. The first of them comes from the company Colorfront and the launch of its new Express Dailies system.

Express Dailies is based on the also known On-Set Dailies, with tools for metadata management, color correction and everything needed to work with dailies obtaining high performance on set. That is why it already has its first customers, including Deluxe, Technicolor and Light Iron.

Regardless of the camera used, Express Dailies comes with a streamlined and very simple user interface, so that everyone can operate it with ease. The system combines tools to cover different aspects of production, such as playback, synchronization, quality control, audio and metadata management.

It is capable of running on a Mac tower (Mac Pro) or a MacBook Pro with Retina Display, offering 64-bit performance and using NVidia. It also supports AJA Kona3 cards and the Io XT, enabling real-time HD playback and de-bayering of raw images.

If we want to work with this type of images, Express Dailies supports most of the RAW formats of the latest digital cameras, such as RED, Sony, ARRI, Canon, Phantom, Go Pro and DSLRs.

This system offers faster turnaround than real time, and can also encode in multiple formats simultaneously. These include DNxHD 444, Apple ProRes, DPX, TIFF, Open EXR and H264.

One of its functions is also the creation of looks. Therefore, it supports managing and exporting 3D LUTs to external devices such as BMD HDLink Pro. It supports ACES workflow and Tangent Devices Element, Wave and CP200 controllers; and Avid Artist Color and Artist Transport.

It contains a waveform monitor and histogram analysis tools for quality control and integrated PDF reporting.
