Autodesk 3ds Max 2019 is expected to be released on March 22, 2018. Some of the new features and enhancements have been previewed. Among them we find:
Advanced Wood Map:
Advanced Wood is a new procedure map.
Highly customizable way to generate wood textures.
Includes presets for maple, cherry and oak.
Designed to work closely with the physical material, with outputs that can be used directly on the material, such as Roughness and Stroke.
OSL Map and Open Shading Language:
It contains a variety of preset maps, the OSL map or the development of your own OSL map.
Allows you to write your own shaders.
Allows to download and use existing OSL shaders.
To be able to see dynamic updates both in the user interface and in the resulting map in ActiveShade.
Shape Booleans:
Shape booleans allow you to combine splines into new shapes using boolean operations.
User interface similar to booleans 3D.
Dynamic chamfer / fillets for created vertices.
It works in both closed and open forms.
Useful for creating floor plans, motion graphics and any object/workflow that uses splines as a starting primitive.
Shared views:
Shared Views allow you to share your models with someone online and receive their feedback.
Publish a complete model or a selection directly from 3ds Max.
View and share designs in the browser.
Collaborators use a URL, they do not need to install software.
Print views that are important
Screenshots for use in e-mails and presentations.
Access collaboration comments directly in 3ds Max or through your web browser.
3DS Max Interactive:
Virtual reality editing is now possible with the new Level Viewport VR, which allows you to use VR headsets to enter and edit levels in virtual reality.
The intelligent placement tool provides an intuitive way to accurately place objects when working in the level window or editing the scene in virtual reality.
Live Transform Tracking mode synchronizes the transformation controls between 3ds Max and 3ds Max Interactive.
3ds Max photometric lights are now imported as physical lights into 3ds Max Interactive. All associated IES files are also imported.
The new flexible VR Desktop template can be used with Oculus or HTC Vive systems.
