JVC Professional has launched its new DT-E series of professional studio monitors with HD resolution and LCD screens.
Based on its high-end DT-VG1 benchmark, the three 15-, 17- and 21-inch models feature a state-of-the-art TN-type LCD panel. They are backlit with mercury-free LEDs that, in addition to consuming 20 to 30 percent less power than conventional CCFL (fluorescent) illumination, provide better black levels and optimized contrast.
Their native resolution is Full HD (1920×1080), except for the 15-inch DT-E15L4 model, which has a 1366×768 panel; they operate at 10-bit and include a UDM function for on-screen data indication based on TSL protocols.
They have HDMI input and HD SDI input and output, as well as two programmable functions on the front.
Intended to be an affordable alternative for all budgets, this series of monitors includes calibration software that allows you to correctly adjust levels for good picture quality (and is available for free from the JVC website).
JVC has also announced in recent days two other monitors, the RS-840UD and the PS-840UD, both with 4K (3840×2160) native resolution and an 84-inch display.
Designed for production studios, corporate environments or medical imaging, they feature a 10-bit color depth IPS LCD panel, 120Hz refresh rate and 178-degree viewing angle.
Only the RS-840UD includes the Certified Calibration Configuration (C3) system license, although the PS-840UD adds an OPS module for use in public signage applications.
Both will support HDMI 1.4 for 4K signals up to 30p, over a single cable, and HDMI 1.3 for 4K up to 60p over four cables.
These models will begin distribution later this month, priced at $13,500 for the RS-840UD and $14,000 for the PS-840UD.
