Blackmagic Design used NAB to introduce a wide range of new products, including a digital camera, fully modified DaVinci Resolve, software upgrades, converters, etc.

The new products are:

Blackmagic Cinema Camera

It includes a 2.5K sensor, with 13 steps of dynamic range; a built-in SSD recorder that can capture DNG RAW, ProRes and DNxHD; LCD touchscreen for direct metadata input; audio jacks; cooling sensor; and is fully compatible with EF and ZF lenses.

It also comes with SDI and Thunderbolt connectors and a full copy of DaVinci Resolve and UltraScope.

DaVinci Resolve 9.0

In this update, the interface has been redesigned to eliminate unnecessary actions and work faster.

It will be available for free starting in June.

Teranex 2D and 3D processors

Blackmagic Design wanted to solve the problems with the VC100 model, which was too big and expensive to build. To do this they have released two models, one with a single processor for regular conversions (Teranex 2D, available in June for $1,995) and another with dual processors that adds 3D processing and 4:4:4 quality (Teranex 3D, for $3,995 starting in July).

ProRes support for HyperDeck Studio, both recording and playback.

HyperDeck Studio Pro, with possible 4K playback through its four SDI channels.

– UltraStudio Express

A product for capture and playback powered by the Thunderbolt connector. It is fully compatible with Final Cut Pro (7 and X), Avid Media Composer (6) and some Adobe CS6 systems (such as After Effects, Premiere Pro and Photoshop).

It will be available in May for $495.

Battery converters, from SDI to HDMI and vice versa. They are priced at $295 and will be released later this month.

– Universal VideoHub Editing Interface

It is a plug-in card for Universal VideoHub routers that includes 4 independent Thunderbolt connectors and four other reference connectors. Basing capture and playback on a single device, it is capable of working in four different video formats.

From June for $1,195

– Desktop Video Software 9.5

Includes support for Adobe CS6 and a new driver (WDM) in the Windows version.

It will be available for download in May.
