This week Eizo announced its new Prominence CG3145 reference monitor, which features 31.1-inch, DCI-4K (4096 x 2160) resolution and is designed for professional HDR post-production.
Its name comes from the phenomenon known as solar prominence, an eruption rising from the Sun’s surface, referring to the image of the bright sun as opposed to the deep black of space.
This monitor achieves a brightness level of 1000 cd/m2, necessary for HDR content, and is the first LCD to achieve a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
Unlike other monitors, the Prominence eliminates the ABL (Auto Brightness Limiter) that limits the ability to display the brightest scenes with tones above a range, to ensure that users will be able to see the brightness and colors accurately in each pixel.
As for HDR gamma curves, this monitor supports the two standard ones, HLG and PQ.
Its HDMI input supports 10-bit 4:2:2:2 material at 50/60p, and the DisplayPort supports up to 10-bit 4:4:4:4 at 50/60p.
Finally, it covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color space.
The new ColorEdge Prominence CG3145 will be launched later this 2017. HLG and PQ curves have also been added as an option for the CG318-4K, CG248-4K, CG277 and CG247X monitors.
