Blackmagic has released a new update for its DaVinci Resolve software. The new DaVinci Resolve 16.1.2 update includes some very interesting changes for users who are already familiar with DaVinci Resolve version 16. In fact, some of the new features are in direct response to requests from content creators.
While RED recently announced Windows support for its latest SDK, the new update to DaVinici Resolve now supports CUDA-based R3D. The recent Blackmagic RAW version of URSA will also be supported. Apart from these, most of the new features are related to some changes in the program’s tools and new features added.
On the cut page, one of the major new features of version 16, they have added entry and exit markers. At this point they also improved the input and output markers by adding a smart tracking marker. It is now possible to edit only video or audio and adds new audio tracks for IMF and DCP renders. It also adds better support for encoding and decoding in Kakadu DCP formats.
If we remain on the cut page, now when we open the media folder, the content will be re-synchronized with that folder. Also improves display customization with viewer size and timeline height adjustment.
For those working with Blackmagic keyboards, they have also incorporated some improvements that make it more compatible with DaVinci such as double-click erase or the display of 2 in sync. The latter option works with live overwrite mode active. There is also more precision in keyboard searches.
Improvements have been added to the work of copying and pasting Dolby Vision halftone shift values between clips.
In short, it is an update that brings more stability to the program, resolves some important bugs and responds to some of the requests of its users.
