New release of Flame and Smoke 2013 beta v3

During IBC Autodesk presented the new version of Flame, celebrating its 20th anniversary. This new edition is part of Autodesk Flame Premium 2013, a software that features a set of high-end tools for visual effects, editing and color correction in real time.

Lately, many systems are integrating more and more functions with the aim of ensuring that they are not intended for a single task, but that the entire post-production process can be carried out in them. This is also the purpose of Autodesk with Flame, to offer all the necessary tools to supervise entire projects.

The new edition, called Flame 20th Anniversary Edition, includes an improved workspace for increased speed, with the core post-production tools within a unified environment. In addition, an editing timeline is now fully linked to the popular Desktop, Batch and Action timelines. This timeline has been redesigned to bring it to the top level of the application to more easily accomplish tasks and move seamlessly between editing and creative functions, and can be accessed with a simple “click”.

The new workflow will also provide better access to media.

Flame Premium now has a redesigned GPU/CPU processing pipeline for faster and more effective compositing and visual effects development in Batch and Action.

Finally, native support for the Sony F65 format (16-bit, 4K) has been added, using the necessary color transformations to make the RAW compliant with the ACES color space.

This version of Flame, as well as the 2013 extensions to Flame and Flare, are scheduled for release later this fall. In addition to these extensions, extensions for the 3D animation software Maya 2013 and 3ds Max 2013 were also announced during August. In Maya, speed improvements will be achieved through the DX11 Shader editor, and in 3ds Max the main new features affect the Particle Flow system, with a new module called mParticles and the Advanced Data Manipulation toolset. These extensions also include two new cache operators: Cache Disk and Cache Selective (You can read more about the Maya extension here and about the 3ds Max extension in this link).

All of these extensions will be available exclusively to Autodesk Subscription customers.
