New reLink reTooled software

reTooled.net has officially launched its first editing workflow tool. It is called reLink reTooled and allows relinking and shaping of timelines using industry-standard XML for this purpose.

Thanks to the combination of multiple metadata to perform the search, it is possible to link files with different names, resolutions and durations. This search is only based on the material used in the sequence, regardless of the length of the original clips.

reLink reTooled is intended for multiple uses, from workflows involving the use of proxies to the replacement of shots to which color corrections or effects have been added.

The XML used keeps the editing timeline intact and can include certain effects, transitions or changes in position and scale. Users can select the different metadata fields on which to base the search:

  • Time code
  • Frames per second
  • Resolution
  • File name (full or partial match)
  • Tape or reel name (full or partial match)

In addition, a second set of metadata criteria can be established for different types of source material.

Thanks to these tools we can achieve an interchange between some of the most popular editing and color correction systems, minimizing conforming tasks.

Here is an example of how it would work in conjunction with Final Cut Pro 7 editing software, using reLink reTooled to bring in files with a color correction applied while keeping the effects and transitions.

reLink reTooled is now available from this link for $40. It is compatible with Final Cut Pro 7, Adobe Premiere and other systems running on Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6, or higher (not specified by the developers).

Each license is valid on one computer, but the product can be deactivated and moved to another system a total of 5 times.
