New Sigma 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art

The new Sigma 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art has been unveiled by the manufacturers and is a new high-end telephoto macro lens for mirrorless cameras and available for L-Mount and Sony-E mount.

Starting next month, full-frame mirrorless cameras from Sony (E-mount), Panasonic or Leica will be available with Sigma’s new high-end Art lens. Presented as a lens with unique optical performance, typical of the Art range, it has even exceeded the expectations of macro optics.

The 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art has a minimum focusing distance of 29.6 cm and the optical body consists of 17 elements in 12 optical groups. This optical design serves to provide exceptional sharpness at all focal lengths and corrects longitudinal chromatic aberrations.

Focusing on the optical design of the lens, Sigma has placed special interest in the bokeh produced by the 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO | Art. They have managed to make it circularthanks to the large volume of peripheral light that achieves a natural blur in backgrounds and foregrounds.

Above all else, even “beautiful circular bokeh,” Sigma’s Art line puts optical performance first. With this premise, sharpness performance is exceptional from the center of the frame to the edges and they manage to avoid ghosting or unwanted flare even in backlit conditions.

To make the lens more versatile, the TC-1411 (1.4x) or TC-2011 (2.0x) teleconverter for L-mount lenses can be attached to the lens, allowing you to shoot at even higher macro magnifications without losing working distance.

On the automatism side, it features face and eye detection autofocus and a hypersonic HSM motor that will make autofocusing quiet and accurate.

The lens will be available in October and will cost around €749 on the market.
