During IBC, Quantel was showing the latest version of its Pablo Rio color correction and finishing system. This is the sixth update of the year and provides access to the new formats that companies have been releasing in recent months.
New supports
With Sony cameras in mind, the import and softmount of XAVC Long Gop files up to 4K resolutions (in Pablo Rio and Pablo PA) has been added, as well as working with the S-log3 curve and the S-Gamut3 profile.
Of course, support for Apple’s latest codec, ProRes 4444 XQ, has been included, which enhances the possibilities for color correction thanks to its 12-bit and higher transfer rate (with respect to the other codecs of the ProRes family).
ARRI’ s turn comes with the compatibility of its SDK (Software Development Kit), which includes the new Open Gate formats, new color spaces, 1.3x and 2.0x anamorphic lenses, Alexa “monochrome” and various 4K formats.
It will also be possible to export AS-11 files, which allows (in Pablo Rio and Pablo PA) to deliver according to the UK DPP standard. This format is being standardized in more places around the world, so this improvement will benefit many users in the near future.
As a last support, UHD (Ultra High Definition) and 4K through the use of the AJA Kona 3G card.
