Sony expands its range of professional XDCAM camcorders with the new PXW-Z280 4K handheld camcorder and PXW-Z190 compact 4K camcorder. Both unveiled during NAB 2018
PXW-Z280
The PXW-Z280 features three Exmor R type 1/2 4K CMOS image sensors which offer a high sensitivity of F12 (59.94p), a long zoom ratio and a large depth of field. In addition, the 10-bit 4K 4:2:2 format provides vivid images and delicate color gradations.
The PXW-Z280 supports 4K at 50p/60p and 12G-SDI output, for producing live events, for example. The network enables a live workflow, with Sony’s quality of service (QoS) for live distribution of high quality broadcast content via a Dual-Link connection with multiplexing of two mobile networks. The 17x zoom lens and three independent stop-down control rings allow manual control of focus, zoom and iris for quick and precise adjustment.
PXW-Z190
The PXW-Z190 features three newly developed Exmor R type 1/3 4K CMOS image sensors, which capture RGB light independently and deliver 4K images at 50p/60p with high resolution and a wide range of gradations. The 10-bit 4:2:2 format ensures content with vivid, detailed HD color. This model incorporates a 25x optical zoom lens to cover a wide focal range for multiple recording requirements, with three independent lens rings for intuitive operation.
Both models feature Advanced Face Recognition AF with Face Priority AF and the newly added Face Only AF. In addition, Sony’s electronic variable neutral density filter ensures better exposure control by precisely varying the density of the ND filter during recording, while maintaining resolution and depth of field.
