Xolotl Studio has created a live link between Substance Painter and several programs such as 3DS Max, Maya, Blender, MODO and Houdini. The Beta version that existed a few months ago is unfortunately no longer available. However, the product will be fully released through the Gumroad platform.

New Substance Painter Live Link

This software is not free, but works under Name-Your-Own-regulations. Price. It is a tool which is compatible with a multitude of known software.

Blender 2.79 or higher (early shader)
Maya 2017 or higher (Redshift, Arnold, Vray and Renderman)
Houdini 16.5 or higher (Redshift, Renderman and Arnold)
3DS Max (Redshift, Arnold, Corona and Vray)
Modo (standard stuff, Unity stuff and unreal stuff)

Its creator, he also adds:

“It is ready for any format coming from Substance Painter, you can use packed textures, supports the use of UDIMS and allows file management files up to 8k resolution) mostly active user feedback functions.”

Among its features we find:

All SP file formats.
Textures packed or unpacked in shaders.
UDIMS.
Up to 8k res export.

 

“There are more updates planned in the future, such as Cinema 4D integration, integration of Houdini’s Mantra rendering and connection to Marmoset TB and Octane and a Linux compatible version. I want to make this as accessible as possible for everyone.”
