Facilis Technology has released TerraBlock v5.7, introducing the new line of SyncBlock solutions for archiving and backups.
SyncBlock connects directly to TerraBlock shared storage systems. It can be configured to perform archiving, backup, synchronization and transport functions for media ingested into Terrablock.
This v5.7 update adds support for 4TB drives, and up to 16Gbps with Fibre Channel, including support for ATTO ThunderLink (Thunderbolt to Fibre Channel adapters).
DPX file capture has been improved, allowing it to be written to multi-user volumes, and data protection has been improved, reducing disk recovery time by 50%.
TerraBlock systems support 4Gb/s, 8Gb/s and 16Gb/s with Fibre Channel; and 1Gb and 10Gb if Ethernet is involved. They are compatible with Apple, Windows and Linux workstations, and now support has been added for Mac OS X 10.8.2 and 10.7.5, the latest updates to Mountain Lion and Lion (respectively).
They are also used to share projects from editing systems such as Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro and Premiere. In version 5.7 a project manager for use with Adobe Premiere and After Effects, called Windows Project Manager, has been added.
The new SyncBlock solutions come in a single disk model and LTO-5 libraries, as well as versions ranging in capacity from 8TB to 64TB. The packages are supplied with archiving and backup software, hardware, cabling and documentation and are available now through authorized Facilis distributors.
