New update for the Atomos Ninja V monitor

Atomos has released a new update for its Ninja V monitor. The new free update includes new social media-focused guides, improved false color, and removes anamorphic compression.

The Ninja V is an HDR monitor that doubles as a recorder. It has a Full HD 1000 nits touch screen and became a very useful complement for many audiovisual content creators due to its versatility and good performance in any circumstance.

Now Atomos, thinking about this type of users, launches the new update with new features that will be very useful also for those who are dedicated to professional video and focused on networks. We are talking about a wide range of frame guides for virtually all social networks like Instagram, Facebook, Youtube… What’s more, they have not only added guides for these social networks, but also cover the type of content to be uploaded to each of them, having guides 1:1, 4:5 or 9:16 depending on whether we upload a photo or a story.

The Ninja V came with an HDMI input on the monitor body, although an SDI input can also be added via the AtomX SDI module. The new firmware allows this HDMI input to be legalized, converting the signal from full range to legal automatically. With this feature, the REC709 signal can be legalized to be between 16-235 or 64-940 instead of 0-255 or 0-1023 depending on whether the signal is 8-bit or 10-bit.

False color is another of the tools that have been added to help users when exposing. For this purpose, an IRE scale has been incorporated with its corresponding values to always have the skins well exposed.

With the elimination of anamorphic compression Atomos makes it possible to work with a larger number of lenses, with 1.25x and 1.85x now supported.

And finally they have added the option to save the files continuously as if it were a clapperboard. It allows you to keep the name of the files during the whole shooting day, for example.

The new firmware is free and can be downloaded from the Atomos website Atomos website where they also tell you how to perform the update.
