New version of Avid Media Composer 2020.

The latest version of Avid 2020.4 is now available on Avid Link, MyAvid and Avid Downloads. A new version to make your editing work faster and more efficient. These latest features have been added based on user experience recommendations and focused on users having only one thing to worry about: creating stories.

One of the main goals of Avid 2020.4 is to simplify the work, for which a new project window has been developed to create and select projects more quickly and easily. When navigating through a sequence with up to 128 tracks, the sequence map in the timeline will be very useful to have an overview without having to change the look or size of the view. When working with a lot of material, you will be able to identify the different locations of the media by assigning colors.

Another major challenge of the new version is speed. Avid has improved speed in workflows through the Universal Media Engine, which enables higher performance when working with media without necessarily having to work with QuickTime. Group editing is one of the new integrations for speed. You can edit groups of media at the same time, modify their names, comments, information, etc… or mute and unmute groups of clips simultaneously.

It improves the work capacity in ACES and provides output coverage for 15 new color spaces. They have also incorporated new presets for creating content for social networks with 1:1 or 9×16 ratios, among others. Avid 2020.4 is now compatible with the MacOS Catalina operating system. And for those working on Windows, they will be able to work with ProRes natively for playback, export, etc… in OP-Atom, MXF OP1a and MOV.

Avid has available the Media Composer First version, its free version for those who want to try it before jumping into the basic modes. It is true that some of the features are limited in this version, but it is a good option as a first contact. For those who already work with Avid, the Media Composer, Media Composer Ultimate and Media Composer Enterprise versions are available.

You can see all the new features on the Avid website.
