New version of CalMAN

SpectraCal has released CalMAN version 5.4, an update to its calibration system that allows you to profile 3D LUTs faster, easier and more accurately and also includes support for Assimilate Scratch.

Highlights of the functions

These are the features added to the monitor calibration software:

  • Lightning LUT“: This is a new feature incorporated in version 5.4 that allows us to perform calibrations with LUTs for reference monitors in less than 5 minutes. It uses CalMAN’s interpolation algorithms, which create accurate correction matrices with only 78 readings.
  • Intelligent Resolution (IR) Profiling: It is now much easier to generate customized 3D LUTs. The new IR Profiling technology allows users to select time and quality preferences before creating them. Here you can read the White Paper on this technology.
  • LUT Retargeting: This is another new feature and allows you to create LUTs for two different color spaces using a single set of readings. For example, if you already have a LUT created for the Rec. 709 space on your monitor, use this same file to create a secondary 3D LUT in D-Cinema.
  • Eyeglass“: It is a 3D LUTs visualization tool that allows us to compare the before and after calibration LUT with our own images. It works as a stand-alone tool (included for free in all versions of CalMAN) where we can upload a photo and see the differences obtained thanks to the 3D LUT.

Assimilate Scratch Support

Following user requests, SpectraCal has added support for the Assimilate Scratch system, which joins the existing Davinci Resolve system. All 3D LUTs created in CalMAN can be loaded into Scratch and Scratch Lab to correct the application’s video output.

New products

In addition, CalMAN Studio Express and CalMAN Studio Lite are now also available for $295 and $695 respectively. These two new products are much more affordable versions of the full system, which has a total price of $1,595.
