New version of Da Vinci Resolve 8

Earlier this month Blackmagic unveiled the long-awaited version 8 of Da Vinci Resolve color correction software. Announced at the last Nab, the update is available to current Resolve users on Blackmagic’s website.

Some of the capabilities of the new Resolve are multi-layer import via XML with Final Cut (at least version 7) and Premiere Pro and AAF and Ale exchange with Avid to send the corrected DNXHD back to the editor for final playout.

The software-only version supports the popular Avid Artist Color, Tangent Wave or JL Copper external controllers and includes new tools for noise reduction (for film and video), stereoscopy and 3D tracking. In addition, the new version can be used on Apple’s new Macbook Pro, making it a valuable tool for on-set grading.

The Lite (free) version of Resolve 8 will be available via download this July, as announced on the Blackmagic website.

More information about the new version of Da Vinci is available in this press release.
