The Lightworks editing system has a new version 11.1.e, available for Windows platforms, with new support and fixes for some internal problems.
The most outstanding novelty is that H.264 has been added as a native codec, so it will no longer be necessary to have QuickTime Player to decode it and not only can it be imported, but also QT Movies encoded in this way can be exported.
Seeing that 48fps could be installed in the industry support for it has also been included, specifically testing it with GoPro footage.
There is a long list of new features and fixes, but to summarize these are the most important ones:
- In addition to 48fps, 1080PsF has also been added as an output format.
- When using DNxHD files produced by the Atomos Samurai recorder, there was a playback problem that has been fixed.
- In the free version it is now possible to import MP4/AVCHD (MTS/M2TS) files as a transcoding.
- The ability to link files by importing ALE or AAF files has been developed.
- The entire RED workflow has been improved by upgrading to RED 4.4 SDK and fixing the playback issues encountered with R3D on the audio (linked) and using the Red Rocket cards.
- Added support for Blackmagic Design I/O devices (with 9.5 or higher drivers and Lightworks Pro version only).
- Work with operating systems has also been improved, resolving the problem when booting into Windows 8, 64-bit version; and adding support for Windows 7, 64-bit, with a separate installer (for the Pro version).
