Good news for the editing world. Avid and Adobe have teamed up to create new workflows for nonlinear editing processes. Since Avid was first launched, each nonlinear editing program has been developing its own software separately, sometimes complicating the workflow between the different programs. Right now the leading editing programs in the professional and home market are Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
The new feature that Avid Media Composer has added, in conjunction with Adobe Premiere Pro, is the MediaCentral Panel Panel, specifically focused on Adobe Premiere. With it we will be able to work with entire Avid sequences within Premiere Pro. This is a new feature that the two companies have been working on together and is a great advantage for the editing world.
With MediaCentral Adobe Premiere Pro users can benefit from the advantages of Avid’s media management system. They can access media either locally or in the cloud, search for media using the Avid browser including phonetic search, etc…in a flexible and collaborative environment provided by Avid.
This is an internal “app” where users can do collaborative work, where they can access Avid content and tools without leaving the Adobe Premiere application. This greatly streamlines work for workflows such as journalism where speed and working with different people on the same platform is needed.
Those who have worked with both platforms have found that not all Avid files and formats are compatible with Premiere. Now this is no longer a problem with MediaCentral, as it allows you to use those formats. For example, MXF OP1a or XML files can be converted to generate deliveries for multiple platforms, including web and social media. Finished sequences can also be sent back to Avid in any Avid MediaCentral folder.
You can also import media and enable the edit-while-capturing option so that you can work while rendering in Premiere.
