Nvidia’s new RTX 2060 on notebooks

NVIDIA led its presence at CES 2019 with the wide availability of its new graphics technology as plug-in cards and integrated into more than 40 notebook designs. And there’s good news for content creators and video publishers, too.

Nvidia RTX 2060

In August, NVIDIA created the world of gas technology with its announcement of real-time ray tracing technology. Until then, real-time ray tracing was thought to be at least ten years away. Now, it’s in the stores. Even if you’re used to the breathtaking pace of the GPU industry, the last six months have been downright crazy. At the very least, it has provided the best evidence yet that we are approaching some kind of technological singularity, where the rate of change is so high that we are surprised by new developments.

Not wanting to lose momentum, NVIDIA just revealed that it has ambitious plans to make its new technology available in as wide a variety of products as possible, specifically in the form of a new RTX 2060 GPU card and more than 40 new notebooks.

The new architecture

The new architecture, called Turing, supports real-time ray-tracing and deep / machine learning. Dedicated RT (Ray-Tracing, probably) and Tensor Cores provide hardware speeds for these compute intensive tasks. The combination of these two elements leads to great things. Basically, we have the prospect of cinematic, photoreal quality for computer games and, conversely, for the advancement of computer game technology in cinema.
