AJA is not the only company focused these days on improving its recorders, but Convergent Design is also doing so with the firmware update for its Odyssey7Q and Odyssey7Q+.
The new version will allow two HD video signals to be monitored while recording one of them in Apple ProRes HQ, 422 or LT (these signals must have the same resolution and speed).
ProRes 4444 and 4444 XQ recording capabilities have also been included, in HD and 2K modes (10- or 12-bit up to 59.94fps) with supported cameras, including most of the Sony F-series, Canon C300 Mark II and C500, and the Panasonic HPX3100.
Thanks to the Odyssey Raw Bundle option, it is now possible to capture ProRes 2K from Sony FS7 and FS700 at up to 240fps. In addition, they have said that in a future firmware update it will be possible to record and monitor two signals simultaneously.
All Odyssey models have a new spot exposure meter and expanded support for LUTs, especially for the Canon C-Log and C-Log2 and the Panasonic V-Log.
Version v2015.11 can be downloaded via this link for any of the recorders.
