Finally arrives from Panasonic The third firmware update for its EVA1. How? By adding an important new HEVC codec, while at the same time, it is worth noting that its price has fallen by almost 8%.
The EVA1 has been a popular choice among many people since its launch and the latest free firmware update announced by Panasonic, which is available immediately, only enhances the unit’s already quite impressive functionality.
The highlight of this update is undoubtedly the inclusion of a new H.265 codec that allows the camera to record 4K 50p / 60p video with 4-bit 2: 2: 0 video sampling. The camera’s v2 firmware only supported H.264, so this doubles the amount of compressed data that can be stored in anything associated with its use.
There is also new support for the CyanView USB-LAN adapter with Internet Protocol control. This allows EVA1 to be used effectively in multi-camera setups by allowing users to integrate theCyanView Cy-RCP remote control panel with the unit/es.
Elsewhere in the upgrade, new functions can be assigned to the user buttons to enable quick switching between shooting modes and frame frames. Still image capture in playback mode allows the EVA1 to capture still JPEG images and store them on its SD card. And now it can also support two automatic white balance presets, there is a focus indicator on the LCD display screen, and it also features SDR monitoring when shooting in HDR (HLG).
