Plugable introduces the portable Thunderbolt 3 SSD

The new solid state drive from Plugable with thunderbolt 3 is capable of reaching new transmission speeds for both writing and reading. Undoubtedly a new tool for field work.

The new 1TB capacity Thunderolt 3 NVMe SSD model can reach 4GB of bandwidth with truly amazing speeds for an external drive. Plugable has made use of Phison E12 technology, a controller that makes it possible to reach 4GB of bandwidth for PCIe Gen 3×4 and works with speeds of 3400 and 3000 MB/s. The truth is that in reality the write and read speeds do not reach such high levels but they are powerful enough to be taken into account when working with an external hard disk. We are talking about around 1800 and 2400 MB per second in write and read respectively.

The beauty of using NVMe technology instead of SATA III is that the disk media is connected to the computer’s CPU, resulting in less latency, less CPU resource consumption and much higher performance.

The disc is made of aluminum and the connection cable is integrated into the unit, a practice that many disc manufacturers are doing lately. The cable is 18 cm long. Intended for working with this hard drive while editing, rendering and processing files, the hard drive enclosure has ventilation slots on the sides so that the drive does not reach high temperatures and cause a slowdown in drive performance.

Although there are hard drives and raids on the market that are widely used by professionals in the sector, this hard drive will surely be very practical for those who need speed and simplicity in transport.

The hard drive costs $419.99 and is available for purchase from the plugable.
