Sony has released a statement announcing an upcoming update to the F5 and F55 cameras that will feature support for internal recording in Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD.
These codecs are the most widely used in editing and, although the company has not yet specified which of the entire family will be available, they will speed up workflows for post-production.
In addition to ProRes and DNxHD, Sony already includes other codecs such as XAVC, MPEG2 and SR, as well as RAW recording when using the AXS-R5.
With this development, the company wants to meet the demands of its users for the greatest possible flexibility. However, they have assured that they will continue with the development of XAVC and that they have major advances planned for the future.
Being a hardware upgrade it will not be free, but Sony has not yet disclosed the details of the release date and price (I’m sure we will be able to tell you more at NAB).
Don’t forget that in June we will start the next Digital Cinema Camera Coursewhere you will be able to learn everything related to digital image from the camera point of view.
