As we have already announced, the first public beta version of the Lightworks editing system for Linux was released on April 30.
This Beta release contains the new “EditShare Licensig Service (ELS)”, which will allow users to log into the application using the same Lightworks login username and password (requires the system to have an Internet connection).
Once registered, each user will automatically receive a 7-day license with which they can try out the professional version of Lightworks. In addition, this can be renewed at the end of the seven days by simply re-registering in the application.
One of the limitations of the Linux Beta version is that it does not include a license for the Avid DNxHD codec (due to Avid restrictions). The company is working to soon add a license that can be purchased from the Lightworks Store.
If you want to test this beta version you can do it from this link (after filling in a short form and accepting the Terms and Conditions).
And if you are interested in learning more about editing, I recommend that you take a look at the Advanced Editing Course that will take place next June.
