During the IBC show, Quantel launched its latest high-end Pablo Rio color correction and finishing system.
Pablo Rio is based on the popular Pablo and runs on the COTS (Commercial Off The Self) hardware standard, although it has been reinvented to be even more interactive and open.
Quantel already surprised us at NAB by opening up to third-party hardware with the Pablo upgrade. Now, the company has introduced a range of facilities for purchasing, storage and connectivity. Pablo Rio is available as a software-only option or as a complete package (turnkey system). Users are free to choose whether to use their own hardware and storage, or to purchase one of the turnkey configurations offered by Quantel and tested on the latest hardware. Similarly, you can choose whether to work with SAN, NAS, or a combination of both, as well as video inputs and outputs or a single network.
Pablo Rio runs on high-performance PCs and exploits NVIDIA Maximus multi-GPU technology to deliver authentic interactivity.
Regardless of the chosen configuration, it offers a set of tools that allows results in less time and makes it a complete system in which all kinds of functions can be performed. If, for example, we need to add a title, move a cut, reframe or remove a spot, we will find all the necessary tools to do so.
Pablo Rio can handle all current post-production workflows, from high-speed footage to Stereo 3D work. It also supports a wide range of digital camera formats such as RED, ARRI, Sony F65, Canon, Phantom or GoPro and is compatible with the OpenEXR format.
It works in real time, both in 2D and S3D, without the need for proxies or previews.
As for its color functions, primary corrections can be combined with secondary corrections and masks in unlimited ways, all in the context of a multilayer timeline.
It is compatible with the Neo color controllers and the compact Neo Nano, providing even more flexibility in configuring system functions.
