RED DSMC2 Gemini 5K and Tokina Cinema Prime 50mm at DIT course thanks to Catts Camera

We already told you that we would be advancing the details of the Data Wangler and DIT course, and we can say that we will have more cameras and optics thanks to our colleagues from Catts Camera. They will also provide the Innovative Scout 37 cart to set up the DIT station, essential for this course.

Catts Camera is a company with which we have collaborated on previous occasions and with which we are pleased to have again. For those who still do not know them, they entered the audiovisual sector as distributors of professional equipment, as well as buying and selling them.

Designed for professional film, television and professional video shooting, they will allow us to test the RED DSMC2 with Gemini 5K S35 sensor. Thanks to its dual sensitivity, it will allow us to work in low light conditions with a dynamic range of 2 stops more without increasing the noise in the image, and work at 800 native ISO in good light conditions.

Catts Camera will also make available the Tokina Cinema Prime 50mm T1.5 lens, capable of a 46.7mm image circle, so it will team well with the RED. The RED’s Gemini sensor is 30.72mm x 18mm in size which allows for greater coverage in 2K and 4K than other higher quality sensors.

The Red DSMC2 Gemini is capable of recording at 96 frames per second at 5K and with a data rate of 275 MB/s.

It is also very appropriate for this course in terms of the workflow it offers, since it allows shooting images in REDCODE RAW and at the same time shooting Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD proxies.

We will also have a 4.7″ RED TOUCH monitor to display the images captured by the camera.

We leave you the link to their website and you can take a look at their catalog.
