Red Giant Universe 1.4

Red Giant released a few days ago version 1.4 of its Universe platform, with a total of 8 new tools (4 free and 4 premium). This way, editors and motion graphics artists will be able to easily create their effects and transitions using any of the 89 available in the library.

These are the tools added in the update:

Free

• Elliptical Distortion: is an effect that distorts images spherically, with functions to isolate specific areas and 3D lighting controls.

• Compare Frames: this plugin splits the screen in two to place one image layer next to the other, with different blending modes for each layer and options to blur the border.

• Soft Edge Wipe: wipe transition with an adjustable edge, to pass between two layers of the same material.

• Magnetic Displace: this transition pushes images in or out from a center point, distorting them into a circular shape. It has controls for direction and center point.

Premium

• Texturize: generates easy-to-animate texture treatments for videos or still images.

• Toonlt Thermal: to simulate the look and color scheme of thermal imaging systems.

• Knoll Light Transition: this transition uses the “Knoll Light Factory” flares in an animated form. It comes with 20 presets and control over brightness, angle and edge.

• Picture in Picture: allows you to composite one image layer on top of another, with the ability to add a colored border and overlay to the image.

In addition, this release adds support for Hitfilm 3 Pro, the editing, 3D and VFX software (from FXHome), which joins Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X, Motion, Sony Vegas and DaVinci Resolve.
