Red Komodo 6K Super 35

The new Red Komodo 6K, the compact format cinema camera that offers innovative global RED shutter sensor technology, image quality and color science in a small footprint, is now available.

It comes with a 19.9 MP Super 35 CMOS sensor. The new global shutter allows for better motion capture even in fast moving actions, without generating blurred or curved lines, and resulting in images with greater sharpness in each pixel. The Komodo 6K sensor does not synchronize with light bursts such as strobe or lightning.

It has a crop factor, but by having a new pixel and larger sensor of 27.03mm x 14.25mm, there is no need to be afraid of cropping, as we start from a larger starting point than other cameras.

Komodo 6K comes with a versatile RF-mount lens mount, which offers greater compatibility with LF and PL lenses, as well as mounting adapters with internal ND filters.

It allows recording in 6K 17:9 at 40 fps, at 50 fps in 6K 2.4:1, in 5K it allows recording at 48 fps, at 60 fps in 4K and in 2K it allows us to shoot up to 120 fps.

RedCode RAW has been optimized for Komodo 6K, so that Komodo users also have access to a wide range of image capture possibilities. Among the RedCode options we find HQ, MQ and LQ for the different types of work we want to do. Being the best option for VFX the HQ, MQ for film and LQ for television and online content.

For the first time in RED, Komodo 6K comes with phase detection autofocus. The touch screen is a high quality LED display for previewing content while easily navigating through the camera’s menus.

It is the first to record on CFast 2.0 cards, making it more accessible with this more standardized format. Other features include 4K output via SDI, but no HDMI output. Batteries with Canon BP955 or BP975, another way to bring industry standards closer to higher levels of recording.

The app for Android and IOS will be available soon and will allow remote control of the camera, as well as the possibility of previewing the content. To work with Red Control, it can also be accessed via cable with a Komodo link adapter.

A small, lightweight camera that allows a wide variety of recording options in small locations or stabilization systems such as gimbals.

The price will range from €5,100 to €6,100, depending on the packs chosen.
