RED Raven camera goes up to 4.5K

Just a month ago we learned that RED was adding the new RED Raven model to its camera lineup, with a Dragon 4K sensor and 4K RAW (4096 x 2160) and ProRes 2K recording capabilities.

Now we have new news, and is that through its forum the company has communicated an update at no additional cost that will allow the capture in 4.5K resolution. This is a wider possibility than the DCI image, although users will also be able to use the 4K 16:9 option.

The rest of the camera’s features remain unchanged, such as the 16 stops of dynamic range and many others that you can read about in this post.

Shipments of the new RED Raven are expected to begin in February 2016. The upgrade will be completely free of charge for Raven purchasers.
