RE:Vision Effects, a developer of effects software and plugins, has just announced the release of ReelSmart Motion Blur version 5 and Twixtor version 6, both with GPU support for Eyeon Fusion.
After several measurements using CPU mode, speedups of up to 3x have been recorded using RSMB (ReelSmart Motion Blur) and Twixtor with GPU. Normally, such speeds would require high-end cards and, although users will notice a speedup, it should be noted that this will depend largely on the system configuration and the specific GPU being used.
Twixtor is able to create slow motion shots with high image quality without the need for a high-speed camera. It does this by generating unique frames by warping and interpolating frames from the original sequence. It also uses RE:Visiom tracking technology, which calculates the motion of each pixel individually.
On the other hand, RSMB automatically adds natural motion blur to the sequence. Tracking technology is the fundamental basis of this software, so not much manual work is required. Still, the amount of blur can be adjusted to the needs of each user or even removed completely. This tool is often useful for generating a slightly more cinematic look, or for returning motion blur to chroma key shots.
System requirements
- Fusion 5.1 (and higher), for 64-bit only.
- For GPU support, the GPU driver must support OpenCL 1.1.
- Windows 7 or 8, 64-bit. Windows Vista is also supported but only for CPU mode.
Prices
- The RSMB v5 Fusion license is priced at $189.95 ($284.93 if it is a floating license). Here is the link to download the free demo.
- Twixtor v6 is available for $665 ($997.5 if it is a floating license). Here you can test the speed of the new Twixtor by downloading the demo.
You will find the prices of the upgrades in this link.
