Riding from a Land Rover is now possible!

It sounds like a joke but it is true, it is now possible to record and ride from the car. The company Oxygen DCT is responsible for this.

In collaboration with Broadcast Networks, known for the design and construction of quality broadcast systems, they have created a Land Rover model equipped with Cinedeck recorders, which allow recording and playback on four camera channels.

In addition, the vehicle is equipped with the Final Cut editing system and several cameras can be monitored, which allows the material to be imported and stored on the spot, enabling the same editing while the cameras continue recording. As the Cinedeck recorders output the material in Apple ProRes, the ingest and editing process is quick and easy, as this is Final Cut’s own codec.

The intention of its creators is to reach the markets of television and film productions, providing as advantages the installation of the equipment on the same set, easy access for quick changes and savings in time and costs.

Taking into account that it is designed for a maximum team of two people, we will see how it evolves and the scope it has.

Personally I still prefer to mount from a normal chair, although I have to admit that it could be very useful for reports or for fiction premontages (whether they are going to be broadcasted on television or in cinemas). Now there are no more excuses, you can take your work anywhere.
