Ryzen 5000 is here and comes with Zen 3 architecture

AMD has now made official the launch of the new AMD Ryzen 5000 processors with the great news of having the new Zen 3 architecture. Together, the new generation of AMD processors and the new Zen 3 architecture,” AMD is taking its leadership in PC gaming and content creation to new heights”.

Ryzen 5000 processors feature more power in part due to the Zen 3 architecture, and maximum performance due to the new core layout. This new architecture is based on an increase in performance per watt and core productivity which are major improvements. In fact they have changed the core organization of Zen 3 chips to help performance and are able to execute more instructions per clock cycle than Zen 2, up to 19% more.

For the new Ryzen 5000, motherboards using the 500 series are compatible with the new models as they also share the 7 nanometer manufacturing that the Ryzen XTs had. Not so with the 400 series, which will not be compatible until they launch support in 2021.

At the presentation of the 5000 series, 4 different models have been unveiled, where the major difference between them lies in the number of cores/threads. The most powerful model, the Ryzen 9 5950X has 16 cores and 32 threads that allows reaching frequencies of 4.9GHz. The most powerful model for gamers and audiovisual content creation, rendering, editing and demanding image processing.

The simplest model is the Ryzen 5 5600X with 6 cores and 12 threads where the maximum frequency is reduced to 4.6 GHz. It has a 35MB cache compared to the 72 MB offered by the 9 5950X model.

In between we have two models 7 5800X and 9 5900 X with 8 cores and 16 threads and 12 cores and 24 threads respectively.

The four models will go on sale on November 5 and the company has unveiled the prices of the 4 new models. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X will cost $299, the next one, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X about $449, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X $549 and the most powerful of the series, AMD Ryzen 9 5950X will cost $799.
