Scratch releases its 9.1 version with significant improvements for dailies creation and completion work. According to its creators, it is now faster and smoother than its older versions.
We start with the improvements in the creation of dailies. In this section they have managed to increase the formats supported by Scratch while improving its performance. Now the treatment of metadata will have a more advanced management, including a dynamic management of pre-frame metadata where camera movements such as horizontal and vertical panning, roll, etc… will be included.
They have included a wide variety of options for managing and importing large amounts of media such as LUTs and audio auto-synchronization to speed up the process of managing and organizing material.
Another added tool related to LUTs is the LUT cycler. Through it we can preview how a specific LUT would look like in our images or quickly search for a specific LUT.
Scratch is trying to become more universal through integration with Avid and the inclusion of presets in the export for the creation of dailies, such as PIX, DAX, MEDIA SILO and COPRA.
As for completion enhancements, Scratch has made available several free plug-ins to improve the creation process. Among them is a tool for remapping colors through a table.
By clicking and dragging we will be able to make selections directly on the image, we will also have at our disposal tools for speed changes, noise reduction… Color management has also been tweaked to improve the automation process in color space changes and thus ensure that the image output is appropriate for each project.
A free trial version is available on the Scratch website.
