Sigma fp has a new update, version 2.00. This new firmware version allows to output 4K signal in Apple ProRes RAW through an Atomos monitor or Blackmagic RAW if we use a Blackmagic Video Assist 12G. A major upgrade that makes it one of the smallest full frame mirrorless cameras on the market capable of outputting 4K signal.
In recent months we have been seeing how, through Atomos monitor recorders, some brands have made the leap to 4K recording via HDMI. 4K recording via HDMI. In this case, Sigma fp will be able to use the Atomos Ninja V monitor to obtain 4K DCI resolutions at 24 frames per second or 30 in Ultra High Definition. Another major advantage is that it can record at 120 fps, this time in HD, but also in RAW.
In addition to this major update, Sigma fp has taken advantage of version 2.00 to include new features and improve some of the existing ones. For example it includes the option of double native ISO, having as base 100 or ISO 3200, for each shooting situation. It allows to generate a time code and there are small changes in the menu to be able to access functions such as exposure adjustment. With this new firmware update it is also possible to create cinemagraph-like content, as well as play it back in camera.
In Cinema DNG format, depending on the resolution at which we record we can reach 25 or 29.97 fps if we record in UHD at 12 bits or 100 fps in case of FHD, also at 12 bits. If we go down to 8 or 10 bits we can record at 100 and 119.88 frames per second.
