Pomfort has upgraded its Silverstack media management system to version 3 with XAVC support and enhanced features.
The main new feature is compatibility with Sony F5 and F55 cameras thanks to support for the XAVC codec they use. The software now offers advanced playback and metadata capabilities in the clip library working with this codec in HD, 2K and 4K resolutions. In addition, it is possible to preview Slog video in the Rec. 709 standard (if you missed out on the latter, stay tuned for the next HD Color Correction Course).
Pomfort Silverstack is a high-performance data management system that can handle multiple formats, including audio files, photographs and camera media. Copies are made securely, always with verification and with the option of copying to multiple destinations simultaneously, thus simplifying the work of DITs. An accelerated copy function has been included in this version 3, which combines the ability to read, verify and write in parallel and takes advantage of the maximum hardware bandwidth.
Its user interface has also been revised and improved, with a newly designed clip library, playback views and metadata tables. These tools provide users with quick access to any relevant information about the clip.
Silverstack contains an information center where users can create their own customized reports, with thumbnails of clips and metadata, documenting all their work, which they can then export as PDF documents.
Additional clip information, such as tags, sequence names or custom comments, can be added either from within the software or from an iPad during recording. All metadata is then easily transferred to Silverstack and automatically consolidated with the rest. Currently, the import function for this data works with the MovieSlate app.
Other new features include the ability to import by dragging files into the application.
The Silverstack upgrade is completely free for existing users. If you are not yet an existing user, you can purchase it from their online store, or through authorized resellers, for a price of 500€; or try it for 14 days for free by downloading the trial.
There are also 1, 2 or 3 month licenses available with prices of 50€, 90€ or 120€ respectively.
