Software Updates for OS X Mavericks

As you may know two weeks ago OS X Mavericks was released to the Mac App Store, Apple’s new operating system with more than 200 new features among which we could highlight the optimized OpenCL support and improvements for multi-screen configuration.

In addition to these new features, a new version of Safari, access to the iBooks library, mapping technology on the computer (with the possibility of sending routes to the iPhone) or new core technologies that improve energy consumption and performance have also been included.

OS X Mavericks is completely free and can be upgraded from any Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Lion or Mountain Lion. A complete list of specifications can be found on this page.

Apple also surprised us last week with the announcement of the launch of the new Mac Pros in December, for a price starting at $3,000 (for the quad-core model, with two AMD FirePro D300 2GB VRAM, 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage).

Although you can read more details about the new computers in this article, their main features are their design around a unified thermal core that pushes heat to distribute it among the processors (which can reach 12 cores), their great performance thanks to the speed of the processors and the power of the two integrated GPUs, the six available Thunderbult 2 ports that support up to six daisy-chained devices, and the optimization of OS X Mavericks and Final Cut Pro X to work with these new models.

With these conditions, Mac Pro users will be able to tackle the most demanding projects and (according to Apple) “seamlessly edit 4K video at full resolution while rendering background effects.”
