Yesterday Sony announced its new VPL-VW5000ES projector, designed especially for large home theaters but with possibilities for use in small post-production rooms.
It features 4K resolution and 5,000 lumens brightness, as well as SXRD panels that achieve significant native contrast combined with the laser light engine.
It has a calibration tool through which we can select the DCI-P3 color space or BT.2020 emulation. Thanks to its HDMI input (HDCP 2.2 compliant) 4K signals are supported at 60p up to 4:4:4:4 8-bit or 4:2:2:2 12-bit.
These are some of its other main characteristics:
- Support for HDR (High Dynamic Range)
- Motionflow tool to reduce blurring and maintain brightness.
- 30 degrees inclination
- Standard lens with 1.27 to 2.73:1 zoom.
- Target shift +/- 80% vertically and +/- 31% horizontally.
The VPL-VW5000ES projector will go on sale in Europe during the first quarter of 2016.
