Sony introduces two E-mount lenses

Sony announced a few days ago its two new E-mount lenses, plus a flash with remote control capabilities.

FE 100mm F2.8 STF GM OSS

The first of these two lenses is part of the G Master series, and is the FE 100mm F2.8 STF GM OSS telephoto lens (model SEL100F28GM). It is a fixed, full-frame lens, which has been designed with STF (Smooth Trans Focus) technology to achieve stunning and unique bokeh.

Its defocusing capability is also due to the advanced structure, featuring an 11-blade aperture and unique optical apodization. The apodization elements function similarly to a neutral density filter that increases its density towards the innermost parts, thus achieving beautiful transitions between the in-focus and out-of-focus portions of the image.

Other features of the new 100mm include contrast AF and focal plane phase detection AF. In addition, it comes with the quiet SSM (Super Sonic Motor) system, designed for fast and accurate AF performance.

Finally, it features SteadyShot optical stabilization, 0.25x aperture on the switching ring, customizable focus hold button, AF/MF switch, aperture ring and is dust and moisture resistant.

FE 85mm F1.8

The second is the compact and lightweight FE 85mm F1.8 mid-telephoto prime lens (model SEL85F18). Designed for both photo enthusiasts and professionals, it achieves portraits with softly blurred backgrounds thanks to its 85mm focal length and 1.8 aperture.

It has a 9-blade aperture mechanism and a dual linear motor system for fast, accurate and quiet defocusing. Like its FE 100mm companion, it features a customizable focus hold button, AF/MF switch and is dust and moisture resistant.

The two new lenses will go on sale from March, priced at approximately 2,000€ for the 100mm and 650€ for the 85mm.
