Sony has announced the new GP-VPT2BT Shooting Grip, a wireless remote control shooting grip. This remote control grip will be compatible with some of Sony’s cameras, mainly those with interchangeable lenses. The list of cameras at the moment includes the Alpha 9 II, Alpha 9, Alpha 7R IV, Alpha 7R III, Alpha 7 III, Alpha 6600, Alpha 6400, Alpha 6100, RX100 VII and RX0 II.
The idea of this GP-VPT2BT Shooting Grip is to be able to operate the basic options of the camera with one hand by adjusting the settings of the grip. With it we can operate the settings we have set on the C1 button of the camera, acting as a mirror of this function, among others. In this way the camera can be operated without touching it, regardless of whether we are recording or photographing.
It has a wireless system that makes it a very clean and unobtrusive mechanism as it is not connected by cable. Through bluetooth the grip connects directly to the camera so you can start operating it from the grip. Some extra benefits of the fact of not carrying cables, is that it makes it a more airtight tool by not having holes where dust can enter. It is resistant not only to dust, but also to humidity.
Among the functions integrated in the grip we can find the quick tilt. With this movement of the grip we can adjust the plane for each shot without the need to move ourselves. Taking into account that it is a complement designed also for those who make video blogs, the option of rotation in selfie mode is one of the great advantages for those who are dedicated to this type of content. To avoid unwanted movements during the shots, the grip has a 90º locking option to have more stable and perfectly orientedimages as a result.
The GP-VPT2BT grip is also a small tripod, as it incorporates 2 small legs to be able to hold it on any stable surface.
The new GP-VPT2BT wireless remote control grip is expected to go on sale at the end of the month for 139,99€.
