Sony has organized a webinar dedicated to “Nomadic Audiovisual Production”; to those shoots where there is only one opportunity (one take) to get it right.
The host will be Dave Shapton, from the online publication called Redshark (which I recommend you read if you haven’t already). Russ Malkin and Olly Lambert will also be there, telling their experiences and sharing their knowledge about this kind of shooting.
Russ Malkin has worked on the documentaries Long Way Down and is now going with singer Joss Stone on her Total World Tour.
Olly Lambert has won several awards for Syria: Across the Lines and other important documentaries.
These are the topics to be addressed:
- “Capture the shot here and now”: the philosophy of shooting in the moment, when you only have one chance to capture the action.
- Filming a world tour: a difficult challenge that requires robust and reliable equipment. Which is the best?
- Action recording in remote and hostile environments.
- Preparation for the production of documentaries without the possibility of multiple takes.
- From the latest handheld cameras to the smallest Action Cam, which is the best camera for your shoot?
- Find out what Olly has to say about his new PXW-FS7, a lightweight, rugged and easy-to-use camcorder that produces stunning cinematic images with its 4K Super 35 mm sensor; how does it compare to a traditional news camera like the PXW-X200?
- Zoom and prime lenses: do you carry a multi-purpose lens or a kit for every situation? What is useful and what is mandatory when working outdoors?
- Sound is certainly a more important feature than images, which microphones and portable recorders should you use? Is a shotgun microphone enough?
The webinar will be held on June 10 at 14:00h (GMT) / 15:00h (CET), broadcast from Pinewood Studios. Here you have all the detailed information and the link to register.
