The new firmware 5.0 of the Sony Venice will enable new levels of high frame rates. The previous version 4.0 allowed shooting in 4K 2.39:1 at 120 frames per second and 110 fps in 17:9, while in 6K it reached 60 fps. In this new firmware update they have managed to increase to 90 frames per second in 6K 2.39:1 and 72 fps in 6K 17:9.
Apart from the new features in high frame rate recording, the new Venice firmware will allow recording in Apple ProRes 4444 with SxS PRO+ cards without the need to use the AXS-R7 external recorder. Really useful for special effects workflows.
Another new feature is related to the monitor output, which will be able to output images with 180 degrees of rotation both through the viewfinder and the SDI output. Related to the camera outputs, the HD monitor output will allow high-resolution enlargement.
By going into the menu, the user can customize the frame marking options in the electronic viewer to adapt them to each project.
Colorists attentive, because with version 5.0, the Sony Venice enters the ACES club along with its companions FS5, F55 and F5. This implies that it will have ACES support and that by entering the ACES Product Partner Logo Program, it will comply with the specifications imposed by ACES.
Although not yet released nor version 4.0, which is now launching in June, the brand has announced this new update for 2020. They already worked on a powerful and consistent camera body, now they are working on improving Venice more and more.
