Sound Devices is now also Video Devices

Sound Devices was a company dedicated to manufacturing well-known audio devices until, in 2011, it introduced its first video recorder, the PIX 240. Gradually its production of video solutions grew and gained importance, so that by now the company’s name had become slightly unbalanced.

For this reason, Sound Devices has now introduced the brand Video Devices as a sign of identity for these products and as a sign that they intend to continue advancing in their development.

The entire line of PIX recorders, including the 220i, 240i, 250i and 270i models, has been added for the time being.

PIX 270i and 250i

Two of Sound Devices’ flagship recorders are the PIX 270i and PIX 250i. With the ability to connect to the network they offer recording and playback of files, with the possibility for remote control, configuration and file transfer via Ethernet.

The codecs used are Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD, facilitating editing. In addition, they allow simultaneous recording to multiple discs (four discs in the 270i, two discs in the case of the 250i), generating backup copies instantly.

They also feature extensive audio capabilities, including 64 channels of both MADI and Dante audio over Ethernet on the PIX 270i, or 16 audio tracks for the PIX 250i.
