SynthEyes 1806 3D Tracking and Matchmoving

Andersson Technologies LLC has released SynthEyes 1806, the latest version of its 3-D tracking and matching application for Windows, macOS and Linux. The new version focuses on improvements to the SynthEyes solver, adding features and further enhancing its already known, project saving, performance and productivity.

Highlights of the new version include:

  • Significant solver advances, including “order of magnitude” performance improvements for large scenes.
  • New advanced lens distortion controls in the solver, especially for better handling of cropped fisheye lenses of “action cameras” and drones.
  • Updated After Effects distortion plug-in that supports cubic and quartic coefficients, so that distortion and redistortion can occur within After Effects.
  • New advanced resolution configuration window for more detailed control over the resolution process.
  • Object tracks now support locks on individual axes, e.g. Z-only or roll-only, instead of all three position axes or all three rotation axes (Pro version only).
  • Frames with zero weighting in the solver lock panel: the specified frames do not affect the trackers, or indirectly affect other frames.
  • Resolve decimated by frames (e.g., every third or fourth frame) for additional acceleration of long shots.
  • The solver can determine the rolling shutter coefficient in ordinary scenes.
  • New “Unsolve” script (a range of frames) to help work through long shots.
  • New tool “Find erratic tracker” to detect problematic trackers before resolving.
  • A new context menu in the time bar for better management of the playback range.
