Telestream has announced the ability to encode HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) within its Vantage Transcode Multiscreen system.
This is the first commercial product to take advantage of x265 encoding technology, developed by an open source community, to create the HEVC H.265 codec. This codec is optimized and offers lower bit rates even though the frame rate or resolution is higher, since it doubles the compression compared to AVC/H.264.
The company is co-founder of the x265 project, which uses the work of a global community of experts from universities and laboratories to bring their creativity and knowledge to the creation of this H.265 HEVC encoding. Due to the success with the previous x264 they have decided to take this step and assure that the new codec has the same quality and efficiency as its predecessor.
Vantage Transcode Multiscreen is a solution for transcoding, media capture, metadata processing, analysis, packaging and automation of video workflows. It includes virtually all formats and codecs currently available, can work on a single server or on very large multi-server systems, and facilitates content production and multi-screen delivery.
One of its advantages is the encoding of AAF and OpAtom MXF files that allows delivery to Avid Media Composer or directly to Interplay.
In addition, if we run the software on the Telestream Lightspeed server, we can get much faster processing thanks to the acceleration by multiple GPUs and CPU cores.
Existing Vantage Transcode Multiscreen users can now enjoy HEVC encoding at no additional cost.
Telestream will show its Vantage Transcode product family in several events throughout this year, among which we can find the well-known NAB, to be held in Las Vegas between April 7 and 10. In the meantime, here you can see all the information available or download the trial from this link.
Don’t forget that very soon we will have a course on codecs, formats and workflows. On this page you can check the date, schedule and specific contents.
