Telestream launches Episode 6.4

Telestream has released version 6.4 of its Episode, Episode Pro and Episode Engine encoding systems, which optimizes higher volume workflows and brings new features.

Its main novelty is that the software has been improved, increasing the priority from 3 to 20 levels in order to work with larger workflows. It is now also possible to insert closed captioning data into H.264 or MPEG2 streams from any of its 608 available subtitle sources, or through the “Caption Import Filter” function, which allows the user to select an .SCC file.

Another new filter is the “Rotate” filter, which makes it possible to rotate the video source 90 degrees (either clockwise or counterclockwise), 180 degrees or by flipping it vertically or horizontally.

In addition, new features and additional functions have been added that will improve its operation and integration, such as the API documentation and its performance, making it easier to use and adding examples; the implementation of subfolders to enable automatic duplicates or folder structures; and finally, a new control for maximum bandwidth has been added to the “FTP Deployment Task”.

If you want more information about the specifications of the new features and some of the system bugs that have been fixed, you can check them out at this link.

Here is a video presentation of Episode version 6:

The difference between the three software models is in the number of parallel jobs they can perform and the formats supported. Episode ($495) is the simplest and least capable model; Episode Pro ($995) adds some professional formats such as MXF, surround sound and the ability to run two jobs in parallel; and Episode Engine ($5,995) features unlimited parallel processing and encoding andSplit-and-Stitchquality.

All of them are available for Mac (OS X 10.7 or higher) and Windows (7, 8, Server 2008 and Server 2012) and require QuickTime installed.
