The book “Mi próxima película es digital, y ahora qué?” by S&R Editorial has recently gone on sale through ITunes. In this book its author Jesús Haro makes a journey through the fundamental differences between the process of photochemical and digital creation. Focusing on the cinematographer’s point of view, Jesús explains in a didactic and practical way the confusing concepts that audiovisual creators have to face every day.
It discusses large and small camera workflows, dailies creation in shooting and their work in post production, calibration, codecs, storage, etc.
I think it is a great reference to take into account given Jesus’ experience and the difficulty in finding documentation in Spanish on these topics.
I also had the pleasure of collaborating in the book by writing a chapter on the differences between the legal and extended signal (or also called data range-legal range, RGB-709, etc.) in which I try to put some light on these confusing concepts.
At the moment the book is only available for download and reading on Ipad but I believe that little by little it will be available for more platforms. You can buy it through this link.
And if as a complement to the book you want to attend a course in which all these issues are discussed we have a call for our Course of codecs, formats and workflows that might interest you.
