The Next engraver is here

At the end of February, the Spanish company Cinemartin presented its new computer-recorder called Next, which as of this week is already available on the market.

Internal qualities

It comes with a 64-Bit Intel computer, a 4th or 5th generation processor, 8 or 16GB of RAM and 6G SSD internal memory up to 1TB. Its 6.7″ touch screen is HD and has 500NIT.

The operating system installed is Windows 8.1, although it can be upgraded to Windows 10. However, Cinemartin said that users will be able to install any other OS, such as Mac or Linux, via a USB-connected USB flash drive.

Among its connections we can find up to 4 6G-SDI, 2 HDMI, 2 DisplayPort and 2 GigaEthernet ports. It is also possible to connect via Bluetooth or WiFi to send and share files via FTP or the Internet.

Recording options

Next is a 4K 60p video recorder and monitor that offers uncompressed recording in avi, Motion-Jpeg and DPX natively, plus all variants of ProRes up to 4444 and transcodes to H265. It is the first with these features to come in notebook form, based on a 64Bit Intel device.

As we already told you in this post, it is capable of capturing up to 4K (UHD at 24 to 60p and DCI at 24 or 25p) at 8 or 10bit, as well as 1080p60, 720p60 or lower frame rates at 4:2:0, 4:2:2:2 or even 4:4:4:4 sampling.

In addition, both recording and playback in 3D (“side by side” or “frame packing”) are possible.

There are also some models to which you can integrate your own memories or disks that cost €1,695 (Ready Entry model) or the complete model for €2,195.
