Tiffen’s new Steadicam M-2 to premiere at Cine Gear 2019 L.A.

The company Tiffen will be present at Cine Gear 2019 in Los Angeles presenting its new Steadicam M-2 modular camera stabilizer. It will be available for testing at the Tiffen booth May 30-31.

This stabilizer is a new and improved version of the previous M-1 model. It still integrates the advanced Steadicam Volt horizontal stabilization system for film and broadcast cameras. As for the Volt system, what it does is to help keep any tilt or roll angle level and eliminate body and wind sway. The level of resistance is chosen by each operator and can be activated or deactivated at the push of a button.

One of the improvements to highlight is the reduction of the weight and height of the structure, as well as a simpler and easier design for the steadicam operator. In this new version, the distance between the top of the gimbal has been reduced to make it more compact. This was one of the requests from the steadicam operator community, which the Tiffen company has taken into consideration, according to Andrew Tiffen. This update also allows the operator to mold the rig to his or her liking thanks to the multiple customization possibilities it offers. The idea is that each operator can adjust the stabilizer to his or her needs.

The M-2 stabilizer has raised the levels of modularity to another level, since practically all parts are modular. For example, the carbon fiber poles can have different lengths and diameters, the battery plates can have V-lock or Gold structure…

As for the structure of the monitor, it has been designed to be as standard as possible so that it is compatible with almost all professional monitors on the market.

The new model will be available in summer 2019. Those who want a sneak preview will be able to test drive it at Cine Gear 2019 in Los Angeles on May 30 and 31.
