Twixtor 6, RE:Vision Effects ‘ software for digitally creating slow motion shots, now has GPU support for Media Composer family systems.
Users of Avid Media Composer and Symphony v6 (or higher; 64-bit), as well as NewsCutter v10 (or higher; 64-bit), will be able to take advantage of the software’s advanced tracking technology, which calculates the movement of each pixel individually. This achieves the great result obtained by Twixtor, which synthesizes new frames by warping and interpolating the existing ones in the original sequence.
Various measurements have been made and this new functionality within Media Composer achieves up to three times the acceleration of working in CPU mode.
The company wants to emphasize that these speedups will always depend on the system configuration, specific GPU, application overload, codec of the material, etc. Still, users of version 5 will be able to download the demo and compare one and the other for themselves before upgrading to Twixtor 6.
Supported operating systems are Windows 7 and 8 64-bit, or Mac OS 10.7 and above. In addition, for work with GPU mode the driver must support OpenCL 1.1.
It is recommended to use OS 10.8 or 10.9 if we are on Mac, because the OpenCL drivers are more robust and work 30% faster. It should also be added that Mavericks is absolutely necessary to use Intel HD Graphics.
In this link you have all the requirements to use the GPU mode.
Twixtor 6 for Avid is priced at $329.95 for new users and $82.49 for those who want to upgrade from version 5. For those who purchased it after January 1 of this year, the upgrade is free.
